Dr. Bhupen Kalita, M.Pharm, Ph.D.

Professor and Principal

Dr. Bhupen Kalita who officiates as the Principal & Professor at NEF College of Pharmacy Guwahati, has a record of accomplishment as an educator for 14 years now. He completed his B. Pharm degree in 2004 from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangaluru, Karnataka. Then he served as executive in Glenmark Pharmaceutical Ltd., for a period of 1 year. He worked as Lecturer of D. Pharm program at Sri Subrahmanya Swami College of Pharmacy, Bangaluru from 1-12-2005 to 30-07-2006. He qualified and received prestigious AICTE GATE fellowship in the year 2006 for higher studies. In the year 2008, he received his M. Pharm degree in Pharmaceutics specialization from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangaluru, Karnataka. He then joined as Assistant Professor at Varanasi College of Pharmacy, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh and served the institute for four years. He worked as Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutics for 9 years and 8 months at Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (GIPS), Guwahati. Dr. Kalita was awarded the Ph.D. degree in 2017 from Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh Assam. During his journey in the teaching profession.

Dr. Kalita had published his research works in 6 international and 18 national journals. His core area of research work related to novel and controlled drug delivery and two of his highly acclaimed research works in the field of Phytosomal drug delivery got published in prestigious AAPS PharmSciTech and in Artificial cells, Nanomedicine, and Biotechnology. His research also published in the proceedings of ICPPS conference held in 2016, Zurich, Switzerland. In August 2017, he delivered an oral session at European Advanced Materials Congress organized by IAAM & Uppsala University in Stockholm, Sweden. He also presented his research works in 20 different National seminar/conferences and international conferences held in India.

Dr. Bhupen Kalita participated in more than 15 QIP, FDP, STTP, workshops as learner. He received AICTE ATAL ACADEMY grant in the year 2020. He qualified as mentor for National Initiative for Technical Teachers Training, in 2021. Dr. Kalita guided 20 M. Pharm thesis and presently guiding 2 Ph.D. scholars.

Dr. Kalita is a life member of Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) and APTI. Since 2018, he has been serving as general secretary of IPA Guwahati Local Branch. In February, 2021, Dr. Kalita was appointed as nominee of CPCSEA by the Dept. of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Govt. of India.
